In the Noise

They’re not colourful this year, the leaves. More rusty and dull. And the darkness falls so early now. There’ll be frost soon, the first of the season. Autumn is well underway.

Our days have fallen into a pattern that barely gives us time to catch our breath. Classes, lessons, meetings, field trips, church, and in between it all, as much school work as we can cram in.

It’s exciting.

And exhausting.

This year, the winter blues have hit early and I’m fighting them tooth and nail. Pills, vitamins, smoothies, walks, the sun lamp — everything helps.

And yet? Those things are useless if I’m not running to the arms of Jesus. Because the truth is, I can’t do this on my own.

That’s the beauty of it right there though. When we’re at the end of our strength, His strength carries us.

But we have to pause. Turn down the noise and listen for His whisper.

It’s lost in the busy but loud in the quiet.

And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.

Jeremiah 29:13

So in between the classes, lessons, meetings, field trips, church, and all the school work we can cram in, there needs to be room to stop.

To breathe.

To listen.

And to find Him waiting, speaking, in the quiet.
